At this year-end networking event, we will focus on the topic
"Invisible Barriers. Unconscious Bias in Science and What We Can Do About It"
with a keynote speech by Dr. Steffi Nothnagel.
Gender equality in science is a well-established topic. However, despite growing awareness of the lack of gender equity in science and the increasing number of initiatives promoting diversity, change remains slow. One of the main causes of inequality is unconscious bias, unconscious thought patterns that shape our daily actions. These have significant negative impacts on academic success, careers, work-life balance, and mental health. What can we do to address this on both an individual and structural level? How do we deal with unconscious bias? Who are good allies?
Afterward, let’s continue the conversation during a relaxed get-together to discuss innovative actions and proven solutions and further strengthen the Female Scientists Network through mutual exchange.
Time: Wednesday, 4.12.2024 from 2pm-4pm
Location: Trefftz-Bau, L-Building, room 114
